Imperialism and terrorism: two major threats to national integration – Pinarayi Vijayan

January 3, 2018

Calicut: The imperialism and terrorism, two forces which feed each other, are the two major threats to national integration, said chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan while inaugurating a seminar on national integration at the Jamia Markaz, Calicut. To achieve national integration in the true sense, the ruling government should be unbiased. However, we are seeing the opposite of the same in our country. The extent of the communalism has reached to a new level of even justifying the heinous murder of a poor man in the name of religion in Rajasthan – he further added.

“When vested interests try to misuse religiosity for communalism and terrorism, the institutes like Jamia Markaz, which are rooted in the Sufi Sunni Islam and pluralistic ethos of the country has a great role to play. The believers of any faith are the citizens of the country too. Markaz, as an institute plays a pivotal role in contributing best belivers and citizens to the country. Communal and terrorist forces try to misuse social and economic inequalities. The efforts of the Jamia Markaz to educate students from the troubled environment of Kerala is a best example of how this institute contributes to the national integration. The efforts of the Jamia Markaz to alleviate poverty among the marginalized sections in the 22 states of India try to address the issue from its root.” He further added. ”Only those who have a humanitarian perspective can run initiatives like Jamia Markaz” he said while praising the activities of the Markaz.
